Haverson Architecture and Design is the unique collaboration of husband and wife team, architect Jay Haverson and graphic designer Carolyn Haverson, and David Moore. The firm specializes in master planning, hospitality, restaurants, retail shops, office interiors, and residential projects. Haverson Architecture and Design also provides graphic design identities for its clients, including logotypes, print design, and signage. Formed in 1993, the firm has completed over two hundred architectural and interior design undertakings, including master plans for large projects, renovations to historical buildings, adaptive reuse, major additions to existing structures and new construction. The firm works in the private and public realm on commercial, institutional, and residential projects with imagination and style. Haverson believes that a successful project is one in which the client’s expectations are balanced and met.




Current Projects

The following are a sampling of projects currently in various stages of completion: Residential Projects in Fairfield and Westchester Counties,the renovation of Richmond, Virginia; Finagle A Bagel on Boylston Street in Boston; Bistro du Midi on The Common in Boston; Gabriel's (formerly Lucas Steakhouse) in Greenwich, Connecticut; Draft Picks in Lincoln, Rhode Island; USTA Corporate Suites at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York; and the renovation of the New City Plaza in New City, New York.




Jay Haverson

Jay Haverson is the Principal in Charge of Architecture and Interior Design. Mr. Haverson earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Syracuse University where he received the A.I.A. Gold Medal as the most outstanding student. He went on to pursue his Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University. Early in his career, Mr. Haverson worked with James Stewart Polshek and Partners, where he was involved with the 500 Park Tower and the early phases of the renovation of Carnegie Hall in New York. In 1983 he formed Haverson/Rockwell Architects P.C. with fellow architect David Rockwell. For 10 years he was a Principal involved with successful restaurant projects in Manhattan such as Tatou, Vong, Christer's, Mulholland Drive Cafe, Bridgewaters at the South Street Seaport, and Hi-Life. He was also responsible for multiple projects with the Loews Hotels including The Regency on Park Avenue and the Annapolis Powerplant Banquet Facility.




Carolyn Haverson

Carolyn Haverson is the Administrative Partner and Principal in Charge of Graphic Design. In addition to managing the business operations and facilities of the firm, Ms. Haverson is responsible for design of graphics and signage for all of the firm's work. She also advises on creative concepts, and the integration of unique color palettes, for which the firm is well known. She studied Communication Design at the Parsons School of Design in New York and attended Syracuse University as an undergraduate. Specifically her work includes logo development and applications for restaurants, entertainment venues and retail shops. Her accomplishments include the marks for Spiga Ristorante, Mediterraneo, Bambou, Aurora, Nyla, On3, signage at the Coney Island Emporium at the New York New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, New Roc City in New Rochelle, New York and the GM Experience 2000 project. She also designed the logos for many of Haverson/Rockwell's restaurant installations including Vong, Mulholland Drive Cafe, Bridgewaters at the South Street Seaport, Christer's, The Ocean Beach Inn on Fire Island and Over-The-Counter Gourmet Food Shop.




David Moore

David Graham Moore, R.A., is the Partner-Director of Design for Haverson Architecture and Design. Since joining the firm in 2001, Mr. Moore has been involved in the conceptual phases of every project handled by the firm. In previous positions, as a Senior Associate of The Phillips Group and as Senior Designer of the Rockwell Group design team, Mr. Moore was responsible for shaping and maintaining the design philosophy of the firms. A highlight of contract and hospitality design projects in his portfolio include Heineken Beer USA headquarters in White Plains, New York; Pokeman Flagship at Rockefeller Center, New York City; Talbots store redesign; Montefiore Children’s Hospital and Carl Sagan Learning Center in Bronx, New York; Watercolor Inn, a 60-room boutique hotel in Water Color, Florida and the dining facility of the New York Aquarium, Coney Island, New York. David Moore received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University and is Board Certified and Registered Architect in New York and Connecticut.




Publications

Haverson's work has been recognized in publications including Interior Design, Interiors, Architecture, Hospitality Design, Architectural Record, Contract Design, Restaurants and Institutions, Home Remodeling, Additions and Decks, Kitchen and Baths, New York magazine and The New York Times. The firm is included in Who's Who in Interior Design, Interior Design magazine's Top 100 hospitality firms and Top 200 contract firms, as well as, VSM&D Top 50 Retail Designers. The firm has also been featured in numerous monograph publications including Cafe Design, New Stores in the USA, Retail and Restaurant Spaces, Design Spirits, and New Restaurants in the USA and East Asia.




Awards

The firm was the recipient of a 2000 Gold Key Award sponsored by Hospitality Design and Lodging Magazines and has received awards for space and lighting design given by Restaurants & Institutions Magazine, the Connecticut A.I.A., the New York A.I.A., and the Greenwich (CT) Arts Council.

Jay Haverson is a member of the American Institute of Architects, is Board Certified and a Registered Architect in the states of Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachussetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. Haverson Architecture and Design is a member of the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.
